Games that deserve to be on SNES: Skyrim

SNES is the perfect console. It lived on the fantastic 16-bit era, were the games weren't too simply so you could get bored easily, nor too advanced so you have to do a PhD to play properly. SNES games are just perfectly balanced between complex (challenging) and simple (fun / relaxing). Moreover, the console has a huge library of awesome games.
But the years passed and some other games came. Unfortunately, for these games, the developers decided to use other systems instead of the great SNES. Here's my homage to these good games that haven't the honor to be played on the greatest console of all time.

Another game that deserves a place on SNES is the fifth of the Elder Scrolls series: Skyrim!

This game mastered the medieval RPG gender. It provides the players exactly what they want, no matter what. If you like a "sandbox" game, with a huge open world, I got it on Skyrim; if you want just to follow the storyline and complete just the "main mission", fine, you can do it too! You can play on first-person view or third-person view, you can be a melee warrior, a archer, a magic user... a really good game.

Do you like Skyrim? Have another game that you wish you could play it on Super Nintendo?
And if you liked this post, please share! Thank you.

Rocket Raccoon from Marvel: Avengers Alliance

Hello guys, here's the spritesheet from Rocket Raccoon from M:AA. Another great piece of art from Playdom artists, most likely Kelly Hamilton or Sam Woods.

This spritesheet will be available first here, on my blog, in order to promote the other projects I post here. So please, enjoy another great work from M:AA and take a look at my stuff.

Cheers!

Games that deserve to be on SNES: Tibia

SNES is the perfect console. It lived on the fantastic 16-bit era, were the games weren't too simply so you could get bored easily, nor too advanced so you have to do a PhD to play properly. SNES games are just perfectly balanced between complex (challenging) and simple (fun / relaxing). Moreover, the console has a huge library of awesome games.
But the years passed and some other games came. Unfortunately, for these games, the developers decided to use other systems instead of the great SNES. Here's my homage to these good games that haven't the honor to be played on the greatest console of all time.

Continuing with the covers I have done previously, here's the controversial Tibia:

Ok, many will argue that this game sucks. Actually it does, partially. But you have to understand Tibia's contest and objectives.
It was one of the first MMORPGs created and, different from most games franchise, it refused to evolve graphically. This polemic decision made Tibia beloved by many players and hated by even more players. In fact, Tibia's graphics are worse than most SNES games! The in-game sreens I put on this art come from "Ultima" games, these games were ported to the SNES and the graphics are equivalent to Tibia. If you compare with Squaresoft's SNES RPGs, Tibia's graphics are way inferior to them.
For me, Tibia was the only MMORPG I've played. The internet wasn't really common in Brazil (my country) by the time I started playing online. I didn't have a high speed conection, but a 56K dial-up connection! I couldn't play a game like Ultima Online (a really nice game), so Tibia was my only option. I had a good time playing it, as a retro gamer the graphics didn't bother me; but later I stopped playing, MMORPGs aren't really my thing.

Why Tibia deserve a place in SNES? Because it's already ready for SNES! It just need internet and a mouse.
Something like the XBAND would work for the internet connection, you really don't need much speed to play Tibia. Satellaview could be an alternative method, but I think that XBAND would be better.
For the mouse, we already have the SNES Mouse, wich works pretty well.

There are many retro-style MMORPGs nowadays, but Tibia deserves the highlight due his longevity.

Games that deserve to be on SNES: Angry Birds

Hello everybody, today I'll start a new series of posts on my blog.

So here's my homage to these good games that haven't the honor to be played on the greatest console of all time.

Kicking off my list is Angry Birds!

I must confess I'm not a fan of this game, but I recognize his big valour. It was launched in this current extremily high-resolution 3D graphics and complicated gameplay era and showed the world what a game really needs to be: FUN.
Angry Birds didn't need the best graphics ever to become popular and it didn't need durty strategies to make their developers succesfull (rich). Angry Birds honors:

  • Simple game, simple graphics, huge fun factor.
  • No compulsory in-game purshases. This game is not like most "Freemium" games around. Yes, it offered some purshases and some ads, but they are not necessary and not much annoying.
  • This game has a beginning and an ending! Looks like a simple thing, but lots of the current mobile games now are "infinty runs", that doesn't has a plot, nor an ending, you just go and go, them share your score with your virtual "friends"... lame.

That's it guys, games are meant to give the players fun and their most important attribute is the REPLAY VALUE. Congratulations to Rovio, for such a good game, you deserved a place on SNES.
